Novastream introduces...James Varnish

James Varnish is a Melbourne up and comer and is getting ready to release his debut single "Compare" produced by Murder One.

The single is being described as a darkly romantic marriage of suave synths, insistent beats and

Varnish’s distinctive, emotive vocals that owes a debt to the classic sounds of ’80s electro-pop

titans Depeche Mode and Giorgio Moroder but that firmly belongs in tomorrow’s charts.

Varnish’s independently produced and released music is the result of several years of hard work

that took him to the other side of the world and back in his quest to find his vocation.
Varnish studied graphic design at Uni, not feeling ready to study music and describes that journey as
"learning, experimenting and growing and really finding myself."
“I’m not interested in copying a trend or being an impersonator. I just wanna be me and I just
wanna create a unique sound that stands alone.”
From what we have heard so far from Vanish he has definitely found his style and sound and we love it.

Vanish has had recognition already from "Compare" for Paris and the US choosing not to include it on a compilation because he was waiting for the right moment. Well Vanish your moment is here and we can't wait to hear your music.

Check out his official website at http://www.jamesvarnish.com/

Follow the below link to preview the song "Compare" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUQG2wA-Ub8

At this stage "Compare" is being sent to radio in Mid-April, we will keep you updated with the latest info about Varnish and wish him the best in a long and successful career!

Britney Spears Live performance on "Good Morning America"

Putting all the haters in their place, Britney is BACK! Watch the fan footage below and we will post the HD footage from the show as it is released. Another blog commented that the footage will be all put together in a way to make it look like she is dancing. This clip clearly shows her dancing and that Britney is BACK! Watch below and see if you agree

More Britney LIVE in Las Vegas!

Some other blogs are posting hate about Britney's latest performance at the Las Vegas "Rain" Nightclub. Our response is that Britney is 29 not 17! She has changed as an artist with the main focus on music and celebrity rather than dancing. Also it's worth mentioning that this other blog only showed one performance instead of the whole picture, an example of journalism and media using certain clips to benefit a negative angle and story. Do we really need more of this crap?

Check out Ms.Spears in HD performing "Big Fat Bass" where she is clearly dancing. This is a nightclub promo not a tour or live show.

Britney Spears goes LIVE in Las Vegas

The AMAZING Britney Spears DEFINITELY now Queen Of Pop Music has started the promo trail for her seventh studio album "Femme Fatale" Spears hit Vegas to perform at the Rain Nightclub. Check the performances and pics below. While many people are arguing "She doesn't dance like she used to" think back a bit, she was 18 years old, she is now 29! She has had two kids and gone through emotional turmoil and that takes a toll on a person.

Kelly Rowland is FINALLY going back to her dance club banging music with this new track produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, the song is amazing and definitely the kind of stuff she should be doing instead of "Motivation" (shudder)

\\

Nicole Scherzinger scores a second number 1!

Everyone is in shock as Ex-Pussycat Doll Leader Nicole Scherzinger scores a second UK number 1 with her hit "Don't Hold Your Breath" the album "Killer Love" (review posted soon!) Britney Spears - Femme Fatale - Review

Britney Spears
Femme Fatale - Standard Edition

Britney Spears now queen of pop has released her seventh studio album "Femme Fatale" with long time collaborator Max Martin & Dr Luke, they deliver a album packed full of hits and a flow similar to "Blackout."

1) Till The World Ends - Kesha & Max Martin - This is the second single but first track on the album, a great introduction with high energy and spectacular production from Martin. The song was written be fellow pop-star Kesha and you can definitely hear Kesha singing it!

2)Hold It Against Me - Gottwald, Martin, Mathieu Jomphe, Bonnie McKee - The debut single that went straight to number one on the billboard charts. High energy, sexy and sassy like Ms.Spears and the "Femme Fatale" image she has created for this era.

3)Inside Out - Gottwald, Martin, Jomphe, McKee - Dr Luke & Martin take Britney back to "Blackout" and "Slave" times this track is mid-tempo classic Britney that fans are going to go crazy for!

4)I Wanna Go - Martin, Savan Kotecha, Karl Schuster - This track is probably the catchiest on the album with a whistle hook you won't be able to get out of your head. The song is dub step with some brilliant production from Martin and Shellback

5)How I Roll Christian Karlsson, Henrik Jonback, Magnus Lidehäll, Pontus Winnberg, Nicole Morier, McKee - The perfect blend of urban and dance fused together to make an amazing track that is hardcore while also being mid-tempo and showcasing Spears sweet soft vocals. This is one of the best on the album

6)Drop Dead Beautiful (featuring Sabi)

Ester Dean, Jeremy Coleman, Jomphe, Benjamin Levin, Joshua Coleman

It's great to see that Spears won't just collaborate with anyone, the obvious choice on this one would have been Nicki Minaj, and while that would have been amazing I'm sure, it's great to see Spears using newcomer Sabi as a rap on this song. This sexy, sultry song is a throwback to "Gimme More" only a whole lot more!

7)Seal It With A Kiss - Martin, Henry Walter, Gottwald, McKee - Martin & Luke show their production diversity on this track, while keeping with the dance theme they manage to keep the flow and vocals ballad-like with a hot mid tempo dance track combined with a catchy hook that provides the perfect pop song.

8)Big Fat Bass - Will.I.Am - Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am takes the reigns for this track while also lending his vocals, the song is very reminiscent of B.E.P "The Beginning" but with Britney replaced as Fergie. Fortunately Spears holds her own and the track is a club banger that is screaming for the single treatment.

9)Trouble For Me - Heather Bright, Fraser T. Smith, Olivia Waithe - As the song begins you will feel like you are in a club surrounded by green laser lights in Ibiza, the track floats between sweet Spears vocals in the verses while the chorus whip your head to the club dance track. This feels very experimental and it all comes together and manages to work in the most bizaare yet incredible way.

10)Trip To Your Heart - Karlsson, Jonback, Lidehäll, Winnberg, Morier, Stern - Bloodshy produced this is the closest thing to a ballad on the album but like "Perfect Love" on "Blackout" it has an amazing dance beat behind it to maintain your interest. This song and most others on the album showcase the sweet vocals of Spears rather than the strong moaning and groaning we have come to know and love over the years. It's a refreshing change.

11)Gasoline - Claude Kelly - This is my favourite song on the album so far (only after several hours of listening) the Dr Luke & Benny Blanco produced track blends rock, dance and pop together that is a throw-back to "Britney Spears" album era while infusing the new sound. This is a must listen!

12)Criminal - Tiffany Amber, Martin, Schuster - The final track on the standard edition of "Femme Fatale" may have you questioning why it was put on the album, it doesn't seem to fit in with the other tracks on the album, it sounds like a "Hard Candy" bonus track and is very Madonna-esque in it's sound and production. That being said it is still a great track it just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the album.

Britney has had her ups and downs in her personal life but when it comes to music she never disappoints and she continues this trend with "Femme Fatale" When the extra tracks for the deluxe edition are released we will add them on here
"Femme Fatale" hits stores and ITunes on March 27th

Rihanna concert review

Last night Rihanna arrived in Newcastle, NSW, Australia for her "Last Girl On Earth" Tour, we haven't seen Rihanna on these shores for some years now (since she toured with Chris Brown!) and we are happy to see the Bajan princess did not disappoint! Although the sets where not elaborate we probably got a watered down version of the show, Rihanna proved that she can sing live and hit every note with perfect pitch, definitely not what we where expecting. We where fortunate enough to be right down the front so we got some amazing shots and videos (videos to come later!) RIhanna continues her tour around the country, unfortunately her shows are now sold out in this country and you won't be able to see her unless you have already got a ticket.

Supporting Rihanna this time around is Black Eyed Peas try hards "Far East Movement" whose only hit is "Like A G6" they unfortunately lip synched the majority of the performance and their song catalogue was not that great or diverse with every song mentioning the dreaded word "G6" When they got off the stage UK DJ Calvin Harris took the stage, it must be easy to jump on a stage and press play which is exactly what he did with some LED lights, not the best start to what should be a fantastic night of pop music.

Rihanna burst onto the stage with "Only Girl In the World" a song from her "Loud" album something alot of fans where unsure if she would perform, she performed "S&M" and "What's My Name" along with hit after hit, equipped with a hot pink army tank that shot glitter and confetti out of, the only disappointing thing was the fashion, Rihanna has become a fashion icon especially in her "Rated R" era which this tour was in support of and the costume changes where not that elaborate. The show was fantastic and I would definitely see her in concert again, peep some pics below

Born This Way - Lady GaGa

"Born This Way" is the first single for Lady Ga Ga's new album of the same name. While the single has hit number 1 it has sparker major controversy as being compared to Madonna's "Express Yourself" and with GaGa sprouting Madonna's support of the song with Madonna's camp denying any "support" for this stage of GaGa's career, and then there are the fans or "Monsters" as they are called pitting Ga Ga against Queen Of Pop Britney Spears, a comparison we feel that is completely unequal, on one hand you have Britney Spears, has been at the top of the pop game since 1999, then you have Lady GaGa who is on her second album. . .while she has alot of sales she is still to push through the second album slump that most other stars incurr, so GaGa pushes the pink dollar and exploiting the gay market ensures a hit single which should flow through to the album. The song doesn't hit your ear on first listen and it took us some time to actually like it however the video clip is all kinds of wrong and while she didn't go in the direction that was expected with screaming queens dancing everywhere, instead we are forced to watch GaGa give "birth" before making out with a skeleton? The whole thing doesn't make sense and it feels like she has made a confusing video clip to seem "arty" and "edgy' check the video below and let us know what you think
