Pound The Alarm - Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj is back with the follow up single to her surprise hit Starships. Pound The Alarm is definitely one of the hottest songs of 2012 and surprisingly is not ripping up the charts as we predicted earlier this year.

This may change now that the video has been released, dripping in sex appeal Minaj has taken the surprise direction with this one, instead of an expected club banging laser lights show, she takes us to ibiza and shows an amazing festival with colours, costumes and street performances. Check out the hotness below

Turn Up The Radio - Madonna feat. Far East Movement

After failing to make any waves on the radio (pun intended!) Madonna has enlisted dance act Far East Movement to remix her latest single Turn Up The Radio and is releasing that version on its own.

MDNA has only had limited success in relation to her previous projects, although with a sell-out "world" tour things do not look so grim for Grandma Madge.

Check out the track below

Mariah Carey returns!

Mariah Carey is set to return after a couple of years (and kids!) break from the music biz, the promo shot for her new single "Triumphant (Get Em)" was released this morning it all its air-brushed glory.

The single is set to hit radio August 2nd, a mere 2 days away! Judging by the Rick Ross and Meek Mill appearances it would appear that Carey is headed down the typical rnb route she has been sticking to of late, but the artwork is very reminiscent of The Emancipation Of Mimi, which was the hottest album she has recorded to date.

Let's hope she can relive some of those great tracks! We will post post up the track in 2 days

Lolita - The Veronicas

The ever beautiful Veronica twins are back in full force and clearly aren’t holding back anything, with their new killer track Lolita musically punching us in the face (in a good way).

The girls haven’t got anything to prove to the world, already having an amazing list of tracks behind them, but this new one has made its way to the top of that list.

Mixing in some of the elements that make up modern dance floor music such as dub step and heavy drum beats along with the sound of classic Veronicas that we all know and love, this some jst seems like a natural progression forward from the girls “hook me up” days and there is nothing wrong with that.

Catchy, fun and easy to move around to this song is going to be a hit for the girls that for sure and if this is how the rest of the stuff they are going to bring out is going to sound, then I think this will be the year of The Veronicas and they will be the group the whole world is talking about.

REVIEW - Think Bigger - Cosmo Jarvis (2012)

How do you follow up the hottest album of 2011? That was the question I asked myself while impatiently waiting for this album. "Is The World Strange" was voted Novastreamusic's hottest album of 2011 and my personal favourite as well, so any kind of work after had a certain amount of expectation thrust upon it wether it wanted it or not.

Think Bigger is the next step in the evolutionally brilliance that is Cosmo Jarvis, not afraid to tackle any genre and deliver, this time around sees a more mainstream pop sound that does not feel contrived or forced. Think Bigger steps up from "Strange" and introduces another layer of Jarvis. The whole album is catchy and you will not be able to get the tunes out of your head for weeks.

Beginning with the lead single "Love This" definitely the most catchy and radio friendly of the album, the songs pop/rock groove slides in and out, intertwining with lyrical brilliance that oozes from Jarvis's every carefully selected word. The next song "Train Downtown" is my personal favourite of the album, a pop rock anthem that is screaming to be played on the radio. "Good Citizen" and "Tell Me Who To Be" are two fantastically contrasting tracks with "Citizen" showcasing an old school rnb vibe and then switching to a 60's inspired pop song with "Tell Me Who To Be" truly show how well Jarvis understands music and fitting into any genre he is presented with.

The biggest surprise was the cover of The Grateful Dead's track "Friend Of The Devil" which has been completely Cosmo-fied making the track his own interpretation rather than a simple cover. "Lacie" is one of the more interesting tracks on the album, a song about his computers hard drive, comparing it to womanhood is pure genius.

"Sunshine" is another highlight of the album, with other tracks "Girl From My Village" and "Think Bigger" (the title track) rounding off the album, and then we reach "Whatever" which to sum up is one of the hottest tracks of 2012. It is pure pop brilliance and needs to be a single.

Overall this is a solid follow up to the prior album and showcases just another peek into the creative genius that is Cosmo Jarvis. Think Bigger is now available on I-Tunes and is the album to buy for 2012! Do yourself a favour and buy this one and recommend it to all your friends.

Crazy - Ricki Lee

Ricki Lee is back with the third single from her still coming album Fear & Freedom. This album already has had its highs (Raining Diamonds) and lows (Crazy) but still Ricki Lee keeps on churning out the singles, hoping for another number 1 hit in support of the new album.

Personally this song does not suit her voice but the good news is the video is wild, sassy and oozing with sex appeal to maintain interest, while the song may not rip up the charts (currently 111 on iTunes!) the video more than makes up for the songs lacking of everything else.

The ORIGINAL Sugababes are back together!

In an exclusive interview with our friends over at Pop Justice, founding members Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhan Donaghy confirmed that they will collectively be known as Mutya Keisha Siobhan.
Peep the trio’s fabulously wacky chat with PJ below…
POINT ONE: YOU SHOULDN’T READ ANYTHING INTO THE ORDER OF THEIR NAMES IN ‘MUTYA KEISHA SIOBHAN’ BECAUSE IT BASICALLY JUST SOUNDS GOOD
Siobhan: People seem to say it in that order quite naturally. It seems to roll off the tongue like that.
Keisha: Mutya, can I just say something? I found a link the other day which I really want to show you. It’s a clip of you when you’re 16 and they ask you why we came up with the name ‘Sugababes’. And you go: “Well we had to have a band name because we couldn’t have people just calling us Mutya, Keisha, Siobhan.”(Everyone laughs) Amazing! It’s so cute. It’s when you were innocent.
Mutya: I’m still innocent!
POINT TWO: KEISHA IS FINE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE SUGABABES THANKS VERY MUCH ALTHOUGH THE DETAILS ARE A BIT LONG-WINDED
Keisha: Have you got an hour? (Much chortling) Basically, I can’t say too much about it – legally I’ve been told I can’t speak about it. But what I will say is that when everyone else found out I wasn’t in the group is pretty much when I found out. I will say that we had a great relationship, me and the girls; I’ve never had an argument with Amelle in my life. I was really shocked by the things that they were saying because I’d always been there for them, and they were there for me as well… But, you move on, and you learn, and I learned valuable life lessons during that period… I feel like everything has gone full circle and right now I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. And I genuinely wish them the best of luck. I know people are always going to say, “oh, you’ve got to say that”… To be honest with you I was very hurt and disappointed and I did feel betrayed by the whole thing. But I feel like when you don’t forgive people and when you’re very bitter it’s not really doing anything for you. But I’m in a great place, and that’s all I care about. Onwards and upwards.
POINT THREE: THEY’VE TALKED ABOUT WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF SOMEONE LEFT THE BAND AGAIN
Siobhan: Then that would be the end of that.
Keisha: We’ve had discussions. We have a way of working: we trust each other. We look after each other. We are genuinely there for each other. If we were unhappy we’d tell each other and we’d figure it out, between ourselves.
Siobhan: Everything is a group decision this time round.
Keisha: There will be no overworking people to the point where they’re depressed. There’s none of that stuff. We all have the same intentions. You need that. I’ve always wanted to be part of something where I genuinely felt sisterhood, and I feel like I’ve definitely found that now.
Mutya: Well thank you very much.
POINT FOUR: THIS WHOLE REUNION THING ALMOST HAPPENED IN 2009 (BUT DIDN’T)
Keisha: Well, back in 2009 I was contacted by the girls through my lawyer, and they were kind of like, ‘do you want to meet up?’. We all met up. I’d only been out of the band for three months and I’d just had enough of girlbands. I’d had enough of the WHOLE THING… Anyway, basically, they contacted me and we sat together and I actually really wanted to see the girls. Me meeting up with them was more about me wanting to see them than actually thinking about getting the band back together. Because like I say it was only three months after I’d left the Sugababes. So we decided not to do it. And then last year, in 2011, we were contacted by a producer. He put it to us: he said, “let’s record a few tracks and then see”. And we did. And we loved it.
Siobhan: He actually called me which was weird because I’d never worked with him before… And I said I’d only do it if it was with the other girls. (Firmly) I didn’t want to do another project on my own.
Keisha: We basically said, “yes, but we want to do it on our own terms”.
Siobhan: We didn’t want anyone to organise it for us. We wanted to steer the ship ourselves, which is what we did.
POINT FIVE: THE MOMENT WHEN THEY ALL SANG TOGETHER AGAIN FOR THE FIRST TIME WAS QUITE SPECIAL, AS YOU MIGHT EXPECT
Siobhan: The first time we sang in a room together and worked out our harmonies and sang them together was recording a song called ‘Too In Love’.
Keisha: It was the first time we’d sang together since we were 16 years old. To be honest with you it wasn’t an instant thing. When we were younger we gelled straight away, but we had to learn to blend with each other again.
Mutya: It’s been a while!
Keisha: Yes. It was when we came to do another song, ‘Love Me Hard’ – that’s when I first properly heard us blending.
Siobhan: That’s when we knew that we properly had to get back together. You never know if that magic is still going to be there. If it’s not going to be as magical as the first time around you don’t really want to do it, do you. The minute we sang together, we looked at each other, and we knew. It just worked.
Mutya: It was emotional.
Keisha: It was so special to be excited about hearing our voices together, and being excited about our music. On my days off I’d go home and I’d listen to the tracks. I’d be like, ‘I’m really enjoying this’. I just enjoyed our music.
Mutya: We’ve got some really good songs.
Siobhan: For me, it’s the first time in years that I’ve been excited about even attempting a music project. I’m super-excited.

Spirit Indestructible - Nelly Furtado

Nelly Furtado has released the second single from her upcoming album Spirit Indestructible, the single is the title track and is the weakest song Furtado has released to date.

Whiny, tinny vocals soar over a cruisy and catchy melody, Darkchild brings a great beat in but it does feel a little out of place.

Madonna cancels Australian tour

Get ready for complete rage Madge fans, the so called queen of pop has cancelled her Australian date for MDNA "World" Tour for Australia, her publicist blaming an over-saturated summer festival.

Honestly this is absolutely pathetic, she has not been here since 1993, we continue to support her with number one singles and albums but she still continues to ignore us. As a long time Madge fan I am really pissed off about this and really hope that she does not make sweeping announcements without being able to follow through.

The good news is there are plenty of other bands to see this year! Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nicki Minaj and many more to be announced soon!

Demonstrate - JoJo

00's popstar Jojo is still trying hard to revive her dead and buried career with an independent record label, and dropping more songs than a Katy Perry album. To no avail however, but that doesn't stop her.
The latest song is called Demonstrate! Check it out below

Gotcha - Jessica Mauboy

Life has been an interesting ride for young Jay-May-Boo, with the horrible devastation that was her last album, since them a duet with Stan Walker, a re-release and now a brand nu movie titled The Sapphires, which has already gained critical acclaim and features Jess on the soundtrack, things are finally looking up!

The single is called "Gotcha" and the video has just been released, shot in the studio in stunning black and white with flashes of the movie added in for colour, this is one of the best songs Jess has delivered in years.

Check out the video below

Settle Down - No Doubt

After months and months of teasing the brand new single from No Doubt is finally here and we can say that exceeds our expectations!

Classic Gwen Stefani vocals cruise over a pop/rock/dance beat with a touch of summer, the song is very reminiscent of early No Doubt (think I'm Just A Girl, Spiderwebs) but with not a hint of sounding dated or old.

Check out the video below and welcome No Doubt back to the game!

Turn Up The Radio - Madonna

Madonna is pressing on with singles from her latest album MDNA, while the album has fallen flat on its feet, a third single is still being released. The appropriately titled Turn Up The Radio is probably the most radio and single worthy song of the album.

The clip follows a papparazi frazzled Madge being chased into a car and then collecting eye candy along the way. Doesn't make any sense does it?

Ricki Lee cover causes mixed reaction

Ricki Lee is getting ready to release her hotly anticipated album Fear & Freedom, an album that has been in the works for sometime now. With hot singles like Raining Diamonds and Do It Like That, the album is expected to do extremely well, and with a slimmed down image and some great producers on the album it is easy to see why this will do so well.

A lot of controversy on the star's Facebook page happened when the photo went live, fatties everywhere commenting on the new slimmed down image and that it is a bad "role model" for children. Since when did being healthy and happy constitute being a bad role model?

Photoshopping and altering images is no surprise, with more artists doing this for effect, not to enhance how they look. Ricki Lee has come in leaps and bounds in her professional career and seems like she has the right team around her who know how to make her look and sound hot.

Enough with the criticism, Ricki Lee is doing her thing and looking amazing! We here at Novastreamusic look forward to her new album Fear & Freedom and wish her all the luck in the world!

Boom Boom - Justice Crew

This song took a few listens to get to this point, but know that I have given it sometime to think about it I have realised just how good it actually is.

While Boom Boom may just be another hip hop/ RnB track similar to all the others out there at the moment, it is one of the better ones, I just can’t put my finger on what it is that makes this track stand out above the rest.

It is a fun party track that will have everyone up and dancing and be remixed all across Australian dance floors and it doesn’t try to hide from the fact that it is just a fun song.
I would also like to point out that there is one member of this group that sounds like Joel Madden and I for one would really like to hear more from that member of the group.

The film clip to the song really shows off the groups true talent, which is the dance moves that they are so famous for. No fancy “let’s have a story or a message in our clip” stuff going on here, it is simply just a party and they are there to dance and that works well for these guys.

All in all, this song may take a listen or to but you will never be able to escape the catch dance beats that will win you over and have your feet moving.

Blow Me (One Last Kiss) Pink

By now most of you would have Pink's craptastic new single "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)", the cheap and horrible sounding track is the first from the pop's trashiest singer in a while and with its tinny and un-edited sounds is a new direction for the singer.

Check out the track below

Nicki Minaj LIVE at T In The Park

Nicki Minaj hit up Scotland yesterday for the T In The Park concert series. The set list included Moment For Life, Pound the Alarm and Starships.

A lot of speculation and rumours have gone around the internet about Minaj being booed off stage at the event, clearly from the video evidence this was not the case.

Distance - Kelis

One of our favourite's Kelis is back with a brand new song titled Distance, the futuristic and soul infused follows on from the highly under-rated and amazing album Flesh Tones.

The song is produced by british producer Skream and will also do more production on her upcoming sixth studio album to be released later this year. The album is going to have production from  BURNS, Tom Neville, Dan Black and Caspa.
