Your Morning Cup O' News

It's that time again! For your morning cup! Brewing up a storm this morning Amelia Lilly teases a new video, The Muppets join Cee Lo for a video, Eminem teams up with 50 Cent and Adam Levine and Rihanna performs Diamonds live on X Factor.

Amelia Lilly has released a trailer for her upcoming video/single titled Shut Up (And Give Me Whatever You Got) channeling Britney and Ke$ha, the trashy star looks set to dominate in 2012.

Cee Lo Green has released his first Christmas album, for his first single he has teamed up with The Muppets, delivering what should hopefully become a christmas classic. Check out the Muppet-tastic video below

50 Cent is still claiming to be relevant in the music industry, and has teamed up with Eminem and Adam Levine to try and prove this. From the trailer it looks ok, well Eminem and Levine do anyway. Will leave the jury out until we see the full thing.

Rihanna took a break from her 777 tour in the UK and hit up UK X Factor to perform Diamonds live. Rihanna has always copped a lot of flack for her live performaces, but personally after seeing her concerts the girl can sing and definitely puts on a good show! Check out the performance below.

ALBUM REVIEW - The Re-Up - Nicki Minaj

Pink Friday has been a defining era in music history for Nicki Minaj and for mainstream hip hop music. While she has her haters like Lil’Kim, there are more supporters that are happy to herald in a new era of female rap, and Minaj has the goods to spearhead this new wave of female rap artists in.
The Re-Up is the third album in the Pink Friday series and seems to find the balance between the hardcore rap of Pink Friday and the mainstream dubstep of Roman Reloaded.

The first two albums have been both critical and commercial successes, and Re-Up has entered into that territory again.
Teaming up with Ciara, Cassie and Lil Wayne, Minaj has once again secured the best of and obscure artists to appear on her album instead of the other way around.

This is the third and final album in the Pink Friday series and with a total of 8 tracks, it is the perfect closure for the album series. Pink Friday was drenched in traditional hip-hop/rap tracks, then Roman Re-Loaded was mainly dubstep mainstream with a streak of Minaj all through it, and Re-Up tends to blend the first two together and strike that balance between mainstream and hip-hop.
Up In Flames is the perfect introduction to this album, a gospel choir backed theme song, has addictive urban grooves infused with Minaj’s rap style with some great choir vocals. It is the type of song that no-one has done before and shows why Minaj belongs at the forefront of the industry.
Nicki wowed audiences at the AMA’s with the hip-hop ballad Freedom, and the album version is just as inspiring.

The standout track for this album lies in “I’m Legit” featuring the extremely under-rated Ciara, the blend of both callout and rap are an excellent combination and should hopefully see the two working together in the future.

Another obscure pop artist Cassie guests on “The Boys” the track that took a while to grow but now I am addicted. The oddest track is titled "I Endorse These Strippers" and once you get past the odd lyrics the song surprisingly works, as does the album as a whole.

The mix of mainstream and traditional tracks on this make a great farewell to Pink Friday and I would suggest making a playlist with all 3 Pink Friday albums in it, pressing shuffle and listening to some of the greatest urban music in recent days.

The Re-Up is available both digitally and in stores now.

ALBUM REVIEW - Pitbull - Global Warming

I have tried to write this review 3 times now and I keep coming up with the same thing, a simple few words and nothing more PITBULL SHOULDN’T DO VOCALS and that is all said done over and out, all that needs to be said.

If I really must take this further and give some detail to what I mean (which I do) , I guess that I feel so strongly about this point because every song on this album could have been really really good if it wasn’t ruined every single time by that sad attempt of rapping that Pitbull insists on pushing down our throats and making our ears bleed.

The music on this album is actually amazing, song structures are perfect, production is flawless and all the beats and melodies are so catchy you would hum along to the whole album, that is if you can stomach the vocals.

And its not just how he sounds either, if Pitbull isn’t spitting out catch phrase after catch phrase (this is world wide and woo whooo and called out so much you would end up in hospital if you made a drinking game) he is, for lack of a better word vomiting out lyrics about how he wants to have sex with every girl he lays his eyes on and how it is “so clear” that every girl wants to sleep with him. If anyone thinks higher of their own sex appeal than this guy then I would hate to meet them.
What makes this even sadder is the work of the guest vocalists that are on every single song (Pitbull cannot do anything on his own). In contrast to Pitbulls horrible attempts at rapping, every guest on this album pulls no stops and does amazing work on the songs, making every chorus the catchiest  a pop song could have.

I think that the message this album was trying for was that Pitbull does have some talent, just not when he opens his mouth and even if that’s not what he was going for it is still the message we all got. Maybe, just maybe Pitbull should stick to writing music and maybe production work and leave rapping and singing to those with the talent to do so.

ALBUM REVIEW - Unapologetic Rihanna

For those of you who do not read a whole review, I will start off by telling you all you really need to know about it from the very start DO NOT GET THIS ALBUM , do not spend money on it and for the love of god please do not download it and waste that time.

Now that I have gotten out of the way , let me tell you all the reasons that this was the biggest let down of an album from an artist that most of the time I actually do not mind (if I like at least 8 out of ten songs from an artist then I would say I’m a fan)
For starters the album itself seemed very under produced, I don’t know who she got in this time but that was biggest mistake number one, for about 90% of the album it sounds like someone got a “my first production kit” and still failed to put it together right.

The instruments are all over the place when it comes to tone and volume levels being right with each other. Most of the time the vocals are not only are heard over the top but over power the music to the point you cannot even hear it anymore.

Mistake number two comes in the form of vocal phrasings on pretty much every song. Whoever told the poor girl that the best thing for her to do is sing out the nose and over use the same sounds she used in Umbrella really didn’t do the girl any favours at all.

The biggest mistake of all on the joke.... wait sorry I mean album, is the songs themselves, I mean why is she doing reggae badly? Why just why, not much of the songs make much sense at all. The only songs that I would actually tell people to listen to are the songs Nobodies business with  Chris Brown which is clearly a throwback to Jackson style pop and the dance floor styled Right Now  with David Guetta.

If she had done an album of just songs like either or both of these I would be sitting here telling you that this was the golden album of the year for pop music, but as it is, with only two songs off the whole thing making it into the “do listen to” pile, all that we are left with is a feeling of throwing up and using the disc as a shine Frisbee.

So if you like music that is done badly then this is the album for you and since no one actually does then this album is for no one at all, do not buy it, do not listen to it and just avoid it at all costs.  Hell I would pay to have the memory of hearing it removed from my brain, That would be a smarter use of my money.

NEWS : New Ashlee Simpson, Kelly Clarkson Megamix and Rihanna LIVE

A brilliant DJ has mashed some Kelly Clarkson tracks together, and while this has been left off the Greatest Hits album, it really should not have been! Check out the hottest remix below

Ashlee Simpson is preparing for a musical comeback with a brand new track Bat For A Heart, although the title is odd, the song is great. The attitude heavy track may feel a little out of place in today's musical environment but it is a solid song. Check it out below

Rihanna is busy touring in London at the moment with her 777 tour. She has been performing sell out shows to some great reviews. Check out the live clip of "Cake" below

It is finally here! The epic duet we have been waiting all 2012 for! Will.I.Am and Britney Spears! The good news is that it is finally here, the bad news is it is mainly Will.I.Am and Britney has a english accent? I don't get it, but it's Britney so this will be a massive hit! NEWS : Shannon Bex, Emma Bunton, Melanie C and Ashley Roberts all have new videos!

Shannon Bex, formerly from Danity Kane (one of the world's hottest girl group imo!) has gone solo and finally released her debut single. It is a far stretch from rnb/pop that she quivered through with Kane, but nonetheless this hotted up country dance track is infectious and should see a hit for the young startlet. Check out the video below.

As if one ex girl group solo singer wasn't enough, along comes Ashley Roberts, formerly of The Pussycat Dolls. Roberts was clearly the hottest member of the group looks wise and although her vocal range is limited, she can carry a tune and makers her debut with this pop ballad. Check it out below

Melanie C has released an album of covers, one of the highlight is her duet with former Baby Spice Emma Bunton. The two have been hitting up live tv around the UK to promote the single, and I must say with each performance they get better and better. Check out the song below.

NEWS : Carmen Electra debuts new single, Chris Brown/Rihanna record another song together

Carmel Electra is showing another side to her personality, now claiming to be a dance floor diva. Teaming up with Bill Hamel, this "song" is pure flop! Check it out below

Ready for shock and horror people? I actually don’t hate this song.

The beats and bass in this song are really cool, and will have people dancing, my only real problem with the song is the Kesha style rap type thing in the verses.

She actually doesn’t sing to badly, the song is well put together , well produced and seeing as its meant for the dance floor it really is well put together well for its target market.

If she had sung something over the verses instead of what did happen, this song could have actually been something big, as it is though it becomes something less and will be forgotten in no time at all.
Let us not forget though that this is a more into music for someone who doesn’t normally make music and as a first try this is a hell of a lot better than over half the other people who have tried to make this exact same move.

If this is what future songs will sound like then it isn’t exactly going to go anywhere, but if things from this song are taken away and mistakes are learnt from then I could see a lot of hits actually coming from this

Rihanna is releasing her annual album today titled "Unapologetic", one of the tracks features her on again/off again Chris Brown. The track titled "Nobody's Business" is in no doubt in reference to their rocky relationship. Check out the track below

Wow its about time that this happened, a song about how people should just shut the hell up and that them being together has nothing to do with anyone else.
But what is the song actually like?
Well I spent the 1st listen thinking that this was just a boring song and that they were just throwing out a song to prove a point, but with a second listen came a new view of the song.
It’s actually really good and clearly has taken a lot of its style from the late Mr Jackson himself.
Unlike a lot of times when a guy and girl do a son together and you can hear that this is just a song, with these to you can actually tell they mean the words they are singing, you really can hear the passion in their voices and that adds a new level to the song.
At the end of the day though, I’m not exactly sure how this song will be taken by the general public. It’s doesn’t exactly match up with the current trends of music, it is very old school pop in its style and so people may see it as out dated music and it pretty much tells people that their opinions do not mean anything at all and I just don’t see people being ok with being told that.
