GaGa will visit Australia in July for one concert! The only way in is to win through Take 40 Australia who are running a competition starting next week (we will have the info here when it is up!). “The next tour I believe will be called the Born This Way Ball and that will be a much longer tour of Australia,” she added. “That [P!nk's tour of Australia] is truly inspiring. I don’t know if it will be that long but maybe if we’re lucky. It will be next year, at the top of next ye

Congratulations GaGa!

Artist Profile - Cosmo Jarvis

One of our favourites Cosmo Jarvis is gearing up to release his latest EP for the hit single Sure As Hell Not Jesus the video has been a sensation on YouTube following on from Gay Pirates Jarvis is showing his diversity and true talents as a singer/songwriter and video maker.

Jarvis describes Jesus as being 'the thought of somebody can give you hope in times of anguish that a God never could' this very idea is just amazing and flows through with the lyrics and mood of the song. The EP will be released on Sunday May 29th and will include three additional tracks. We sat down with Cosmo to ask some questions about his forthcoming releases and inspirations.

What are some bands you are listening to now?

Tom Waites, The Stones of course and local bands in my area

What was the inspiration behind pirates?

To tell a story with historical significance, to have a song that was specific to this period in time. Not focusing on the "gay" thing but abot building the character of a gay pirate and telling the story as if it actually happened, making the character real. A notion or idea of a person has history behind it, makes it a lot easier to be received.

What is your favourite song on the new album?

To play live? Probably "My Day" and in relation to this album coming out "Is the world strange or am I strange? it is very different to anything I have ever done. I love the production on it

When are you coming to Australia and are you going to tour?

Yes definitely! Don't know when but it will happen. Probably when the album comes out we could make it more of a reality.

What is your favourite track on the new album?

A song called Betty, it is 11 minutes long, the first part of it will be available on the EP and it's called Betty Part 1 so you will be able to get a taste of it before the album comes out.

Apparently you wrote over 300 songs for this album? How long did that take?

I have written over 300 songs altogether, not just for this album. For me an album is not about a piece of work with one general theme, each song can stand on it's own and be it's own individual song. There are 12 tracks on this album

How do you put together your videos? They are so epic and I have read that you have been compared to Lady GaGa in relation to creativity and controversy?

Well really? wow! Lady GaGa has done a lot and I don't think we have the same sound. My mum likes her actually. I come up with the concept and ideas for the videos, my brother acts as the producer and we just get everyone together and do it. The videos has copped a lot of controversy especially pirates, MTV wouldn't show it due to censorship and stuff like that so that definitely makes it a challenge. Online is a big part of things, YouTube has opened that up a lot and shows people a different spin on the songs.

Cosmo Jarvis is definitely THE artist to watch for 2011, he will release the EP for Sure As Hell Not Jesus on Sunday May 29th worldwide with the album coming out August 15. We wish Cosmo all the best with his career and the release of the EP and album.

Born This Way Lady Gaga - ALBUM REVIEW

A lot of hype has been surrounding Lady GaGa and her new album Born This Way basically this album has to cement her as a pop icon and ensure her future in the industry. We are happy to announce that not only does she do this but exceeds all expectations and delivers the hottest and most diverse album of the year.

1) Marry The Night - Lady GaGa/Fernando Garibay - This is the perfect opener for the album, a thumping disco track that is classic GaGa with a fresh take.

2) Born This Way - Lady GaGa/DJ Shadow - Well you know this track, everyone does amazing Gaga pop track

3) Government Hooker - DJ White Shadow/DJ Snake - This is our favourite song on the album this track is dance sex goodness. The hook "yeah you're my hooker" is extremely catchy and the song is incredibly advanced for it's time.

4) Judas - RedOne/Lady GaGa - One of our favourites and definitely the best single this track is a grower and showcases religious intolerance while intertwining a love story

5) Americano - Lady GaGa/DJ White Shadow - This track showcases GaGa's extreme diversity this mexican flavoured track just fits in perfectly on the album and adds a theatrical element that is always GaGa

6) Hair - Lady GaGa/RedOne - This uplifting power track is once again from RedOne but shows a raw element to GaGa's voice mixed with electro pop. This track was used as a promo song for the album before it's release

7) Scheiße - Lady GaGa/RedOne - Another album favourite and highlight we where quite surprised to find out that this track was RedOne produced as it is so different to anything he has done before with GaGa or any other artist. The song is international and features GaGa rapping in German! What more could you want???

8) Bloody Mary - Lady GaGa/DJ Snake - Incorporating the religious theme again this is a mid-tempo track which is extremely radio friendly but due to lyrical content will probably not see a release.

9) Bad Kids - Lady GaGa/RedOne - Another anthem for the album, this song is like a sequel to Born This Way. Encouraging all the outcasts, bad kids to celebrate their diversity and party together. Perfect party track

10) Highway Unicorn (Road To Love) - Lady GaGa/RedOne - The closest thing to a ballad on the album this is a power anthem which meshes pop and rock together with a running unicorn theme. This song is a perfect addition to the album and showcases GaGa's diverse vocal range

11) Heavy Metal Lover - Lady GaGa/DJ Shadow/DJ Snake - The opening lyric of "I want your whisky mouth all over my blonde south" was enough to make us love this song. The dark murky mix of pop, dance and rock all blend together beautifully and showcases just how much you cannot label Lady GaGa's music.

12) Electric Chapel - Lady GaGa/Blair - Pure rock something you do not expect on a GaGa album but she manages to pull it off effortlessly. As far as tracks go this is our least favourite on the album, not saying it is bad it's just ok.

13) You And I - Lady Gaga/Robert John "Mutt" Lange - One of the best tracks we have heard for a VERY long time. GaGa's sweet vocals cruise over the anthem seamlessly. This is helped by the production of Mutt best known for his work with Shania Twain. This track blends country, pop and rock together and we cannot say enough good things about it.

14) The Edge Of Glory - Lady GaGa - Single number 3 this "promo" track shot into the charts at number 3 on the BillBoard charts and is GaGa's first track to fuse pop and rock together perfectly as reflected by the chart positon and the quality of the track.

Overall this album is definitely the anthem of a decade, it incorporates old GaGa from "The Fame" and "Monster" and infuses and creates a new sound mixed with an extremely international flavour that pop music so desperately needs right now. GaGa has perfected her craft and gives pop music a reason to exist again. This album could not be more perfect and is our first to earn 5 stars.

Born This Way is released internationally on June 26th

Cosmo Jarvis is BACK!

Cosmo Jarvis the genius behind Gay Pirates is back with a new song Sure As Hell Not Jesus this highly controversial track is on heavy rotation at Triple J and the video is on YouTube cranking up over 24,000 hits!

The EP of the same name will be available digitally on May 29th and contains three additional tracks including "What's wrong with Betty (Part 1)" from the forthcoming album Is The World Strange Or Am I Strange scheduled for release in mid August 2011.

The EP sees Cosmo examining a typically broad range of musical and lyrical themes with the lead track “Sure As Hell Not Jesus” describing ‘how the thought of somebody can give you hope in times of anguish that a God never could’, and is accompanied by a typically provocative video that explores the themes of shame and redemption from a papal perspective.
Cosmo Jarvis is a singer, a songwriter, an actor, a director, a composer, a producer and a multi-instrumentalist. He writes about topics ranging from his alienation from religion to the equal treatment of gay pirates (and he's completed nearly three hundred songs already). Cosmo is an extraordinarily talented twenty-one year old, and a genuine one-off. When Brian Eno is singing your praises, as he did recently - "he is a very interesting example to me of a new kind of person; a new kind of artist" - you must be doing something right.

The EP SURE AS HELL NOT JESUS will be released digitally worldwide on May 29.
The album, IS THE WORLD STRANGE OR AM I STRANGE? will be released worldwide on August 15.

We Run The Night - Havana Brown

DJ Havana Brown started out as a DJ and honestly not a good one. After seeing her press play and slut around the stage opening for the likes of Lady GaGa, The Pussycat Dolls and Britney Spears she has finally done the smart thing and released a single. The good thing is the song is amazing and the video clip is hot, imaginative and for an Australian dance pop single it's everything you could ever want. The song is great and should see international interest it's a great improvement and definitely putting Brown on the charts! Check out the video below

Britney Spears "Femme Fatale" Interview

Right There - Nicole Scherzinger feat 50 Cent VIDEO

Nicole Sherzinger serves her first US single "Right There" featuring rapper 50 Cent, we are still uming and ahing over the song. While the video definitely delivers the song still just feels a little mediocre. Check out the video and let us know your thoughts

Interview - James Varnish

James Varnish is a name you will be hearing a lot of from now on! Based in Melbourne James is at the cutting edge of electro dance music and has released his first single called "Compare." We asked James a few questions about his influences and the current trend of electro dance in pop music.

What inspires you lyrically?

Personal experiences and interactions inspire me as well as everyday life, whatever I am reading, art, movies and the musicians that I work with. I have a very active imagination. Some of my lyrics are factual and some are fantasy. Having said that, I think the subconscious is quite revealing and there have been many times that I have written a song and looked back only to realise that what I thought was fiction, was in fact a message from my own heart or was a story that reflected my state of mind. I love writing lyrics. It is such a pleasure for me, it is my poetry and my voice.

Who inspires you musically?

I am definitely an electropop artist and so that whole genre is totally my bag and inspires me to write edgy pop songs. As far as the past goes, the movements or genres that speak to me the most which have been the greatest influence on my style include the Electroclash, Synthpop, New Wave, New Romantic and Disco movements.

What is your opinion of pop music at the moment with the heavy dance influence as the current trend?

I love it. I think it's great. The whole R & B thing that took over pop music for a while back there is not really my thing. I am definitely an electronic synthesiser man which incorporates that dance vibe. My only thought is that some of the artists who are using this dance influence at the moment are playing safe which ends up filling the charts with songs that are like clones. There are exceptions of course but when someone copies a trend because they really want a hit, that aspect of pop music stifles the artistry. Hearing a reference or influence in a song is totally fine but I wish there was a little more diversity and originality being produced by artists and less of a formulaic approach taken to creating pop music.

Who are your favourite artists/bands?

How much time have we got here? lol. Oh there are way too many! I am such a fan of pop and electronic music in general. Some of the latest artists I like include HolyGhost! Goldfrapp, La Roux, The Presets, Robyn, Cut Copy, Fischerspooner. The classic stuff I like from the past includes Stacey Q, Kraftwerk, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Berlin, New Order, Pet shop boys...plus I like some really obscure experimental stuff. My music is like a love child of all those elements.

Are there any artists you would like to collaborate with dead or alive?

Oooh, I would have loved to work with Giorgio Moroder as a producer around the late 70's or early 80's, that would have been cool. The truth is, I respect artists for being individual and for having their own identity. It's very difficult to say who I would collaborate with. Someone like Gaga for example has such a strong sense of self. If she performed on one of my songs, it would be her singing a James Varnish sounding song which I don't think she would do and vice versa. Whilst I admire her alot, I don't want to do a Gaga song. I am happy to leave that up to her because she's good at doing it herself. I think I'd like to work more with certain producers as well as some underground musicians and bring it all into the mainstream.

"Compare" is available now to download on ITunes. Make sure you purchase your EP copy which includes three remixes of the track. We wish James the best of luck with the launch of his career. Keep it posted here at Novastreamusic we will bring you the latest news and music from this promising artist

GaGa Riffic News!

Australian fans we have some AMAZING new from Lady GaGa's manager Troy Carter ""We're coming to Australia. We'll make a couple of trips," he said."We'll be there in July to promote the album Then we're back out that way... well... it'll be a surprise."

While there are no further details yet, Troy revealed that they were inspired by Pink's huge 2009 tour which saw her spend several months living and touring in Australia.

"We're going to stay there for a while when we come," he said. "We were over there when Pink was playing and it was a great lesson for us to learn. When you invest in a country like [Pink did], a country will invest in you.

"It wasn't about Pink going over there and piling everyone into a few stadiums for a few nights. She went over there and lived there and became part of the culture."

Imagine Gaga spending a few months in Australia! That would be just AMAZING! We are already shivering with anticipation! BRING IT ON!

Justin Beiber egged in Sydney

On April 29th in the middle of Justin Beibers Sydney Concert, 6 eggs where shot at Justin narrowly missing him. No one was hurt and the mess was cleaned up afterwards. This clearly shows the horrible "Tall Poppy" syndrome Australia has, the pure madness is that why would someone who doesn't like Beiber pay money to go to their concert? Check out the video below
