“Cosmo Jarvis is a very interesting example to me of a new kind of person; a new kind of Artist” - Brian Eno, BBC6 Music Nov
“It’s vivid, violent and the most tragically moving love song we’ve heard all year” - Dan Martin NME
“My God, this is sensational. It's wonderful to see something new executed with talent, passion and fraternity. It's also about something, which is a 1,000,000% improvement on most of today's chart material. The song is catchy and the theme is inspirational. If I still had a Radio 1 Record of the Week, this would be it!” - Paul Gambaccini BBC radio
Some important and relevant feedback is paving the way for a great career from Jarvis, his ability to create lyrics that are cutting edge and fresh challenge that of Lady Ga Ga's "Born This Way"
‘Gay Pirates’ tells the story of two male lovers facing extreme discrimination in the inhospitable and far from accepting social climate of the pirate heyday. The single is about the triumph of love against all odds and obstacles; very graphic in lyrical detail, it creates a shocking image of a time buried in history.
The song challenges the convention of a traditional love song and attempts to break down the homophobic residue that still remains today. The pure shock value of the lyrics leave an imprint on the imagination and this is something that today's pop music often lacks.
