THE BIG 5

NUMBER 1

BRITNEY SPEARS - TILL THE WORLD ENDS

Britney had one of the hottest albums this year with Femme Fatale and was a huge influence in the dub step craze that hit the pop industry. Of the 4 singles lifted from the album Till The World Ends was definitely the hottest and had us dancing and cranking this track every time it came on.

THE BIG 5

NUMBER 2

SUPER BASS - NICKI MINAJ

2011 was definitely a HUGE year for Miss Minaj and while winning us over with her debut album Pink Friday it was jam packed full of hits the main one that stood out and crossed over to the Top 40 was Super Bass.

THE BIG 5

NUMBER 3

JUDAS - LADY GAGA

2011 was a massive year for Lady GaGa with her highly anticipated and hyped about album Born This Way. After smother her gay monsters with the self titled single the second single released was Judas. It was dark, it was edgy, it was controversial and it was one of the hottest songs this year. The video as well stands out as one of GaGa's best to date! Check it out below

You Da One - Rihanna

Rihanna shows no sign of slowing down as she releases the video for her second single off her new album Talk That Talk. The song is called You Da One and sees Rihanna doing what she does best, strutting around a set and touching herself. The song is incredibly catchy and radio friendly but with current number 1 single We Found Love still number 1, should she have held off a few weeks?

Check out the video below

THE BIG 5 - NUMBER 4

NUMBER 4

ON THE FLOOR - JENNIFER LOPEZ

Coming in at number 4 this year is comeback queen Jennifer Lopez, a big time dance diva in the early 00's after several albums her music got stale (for the masses, not for us personally!) and she took a back seat to acting and her personal life. This year she came back with a vengeance with a judging gig on American Idol and a World #1 single "On The Floor" featuring Pitbull. Both the song and video are perfection!

THE BIG 5 - NUMBER 5

The Big 5 are what we believe the 5 hottest songs of 2011 have been! They carry across the pop and urban genres. There have been so many contenders this year and a lot of great songs and some truly horrible ones too.

Number 5

Ke$ha - We R Who We R

Number 5 goes to Ke$ha for We R Who We R - definitely one of the hottest songs she has come out with, this amazing song stood out with its electro dance anthem and pro gay message.

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

Titanium - David Guetta feat. Sia

Easily one of the hottest songs of the year Titanium taken from David Guetta featuring vocals from the legendary Sia this is an amazing electro dance fusion track that has seen some heavy play time here at Novastream. The video has surfaced and has been given the single treatment. Check out the video below

Monday, December 12, 2011

T.H.E. - Will I Am

Will.I.Am is working hard on his second solo album with the first single T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever) finally seeing a video release. The song features Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger and as always is littered with more product placement for Beats Headphones than booty on Lopez! The good news is the song for the video has been condensed and features Will.I.Am through the entire clip with flashes of J-Lo and Jagger which is important for Will to cement himself as a solo artist.

Check out the video below via Vevo

Get Sleazier - Ke$ha

While we anxiously await pop dirty girl Ke$ha's second album she is gearing up to release a new remix of Get Sleazy (one of our favourite tracks!) featuring Hip Hop's finest Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, T.I and Andre 3000.

The remix is hip hop hotness and is released on ITunes worldwide tomorrow! Check out the hot track below courtesy of TheProphetBlog.

Platinum Blonde - Paris Hilton

It is FINALLY here the first official song from the long awaited second album from our favourite heiress Paris Hilton. The song is called Platinum Blonde and is a catchy pop track. Check it out below

Music Awards 2011

It has been a massive year for music in 2011, who knew that Adele would stick round all year with 21 and knock out any competition who tried to get to number 1 and stay there too long. Lady GaGa's second album would dominate the charts and spawn 4 singles (and still counting!) while Britney Spears would see a massive gain in sales and produce an album you can play from start to finish with no skipping? Or that Beyonce would release an album that was nothing like anything else she has done before and that everyone would like it?

It truly has been a great year for music! There were so many good and bad singles and albums and trying to sift through them all to find winners was near impossible this year but after some long hard debating and discussing the final votes are in! Check out the winners below!

Video Of The Year - Britney Spears I Wanna Go

This campy piece of fun saw Britney once again attacked by the press and responding major points go to her driver for being hilariously random and for the sign "Crossroads 2 : Cross Harder" seen on the movie theatre. The outfits, the dancing, the acting was perfect!

Concert Of The Year - Rihanna LOUD Tour Australia

Rihanna travelled down under and proved all her critics that she can actually sing live and do it well as well as straddling a hot pink cannon and dancing her a$$ off!

Worst New Band/Group of the year - LMFAO

Where do I start with this band? The horrible outfits, the faint whiff of a poor mans Black Eyed Peas, while their tunes may be catchy the lyrics are appalling and is not the kind of music that should be celebrated.

Best Live Performance - Beyonce Run the World Oprah Finale

Armed with an army of girls Beyonce hit the stage on the Oprah finale and delivered an outstanding performance both of the song and her dancing skills.

Best Dance Album - Britney Spears Femme Fatale

An amazing new dub step era for Spears saw this album on heavy rotation all year long. Every song including the bonus tracks where gems and this is definitely one of the stand out albums of her career

Best RNB Album - 4 Beyonce

Who knew that after the success of Sasha Fierce Beyonce could deliver a completely different sounding album and bring the two personalities together to make something incredibly beautiful

Comeback Queen - Kelly Rowland Here I Am

After several false starts Kelly Rowland FINALLY released Here I Am and what an album it was!

Best Australian Single - Galaxy - Jessica Mauboy & Stan Walker

The pairing of these two not only vocally but visually truly is one of the most beautiful and catchy songs of the year. The song and vocals soared over every note and blended together to make something truly beautiful

Best Australian Album - Get Em Girls (Repackaged) Jessica Mauboy

This album is critiqued for being too "Americanised" and with the majority of producers being American this was a massive "WELL DUH" to the Australian public, that aside the album was filled from start to finish with pure rnb gold and is the most underrated album of the year.

Best Rap Album - Nicki Minaj Pink Friday

Known mainly for her crazy wigs and antics Miss Minaj actually delivered great music and a solid album that you just keep coming back to over and over again.

Song Of The Year - On The Floor - Jennifer Lopez

JLO came back and slayed all your favourites this year with her number 1 world wide single "On The Floor" and electrifying hot video to match.

Best Collaboration - Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj & Ke$ha - Tll The World Ends

The three pop and urban bad girls team up for a remix of one of the hottest dance songs of the year and deliver the ultimate remix!

Best Independent Album - Natalia Kills Perfectionist

After some much needed promo from Perez Hilton, Natalia Kills was given a release date for her album and it blew us away! Hot, filthy, dirty pop music at its finest.

Top 5 Albums Of The Year

4 - Beyonce
21 - Adele
Born This Way - Lady GaGa
Is The World Strange Or Am I Strange - Cosmo Jarvis
Talk that Talk - Rihanna

Album Of The Year - Is the World Strange Or Am I Strange - Cosmo Jarvis

It was definitely the year for Cosmo Jarvis an amazingly talented artist from the UK whose album and singles took us by surprise! Delivering the most eclectically beautiful and worthwhile albums of 2011 his hauntingly beautifully tone and lyrics cut through the pop and dub step noise and reminded me of why I loved music and view on the world.

New Artist Alert! Timomatic

The definition of ‘destiny’ or ‘fate’ is described as a predetermined course of events, and it is by way of a series of opportunities, events and experiences, audiences have now found themselves under the spell of one of Sony Music Australia’s latest signings - Timomatic (aka Tim Omaji).

Setting the public’s imagination alight with his jaw-dropping performances on TV series So You Think You Can Dance? and Australia’s Got Talent , there is no doubt that Timomatic is an extraordinary artist, who’s set for even further success with the release of his official debut single release SET IT OFF, at media November 18 and available for purchase November 25.

The debit single Set It Off is produced by team DNA who have worked for Jessica Mauboy, Stan Walker and Marvin Priest. Timomatic is a new urban artist who is building the Aussie urban/dance artist trend that has been growing in the past couple of years.

“I love artists like Usher and Chris Brown – those are the kind of artists that understand the power of visual alongside great music; their music inspires movement. I want to achieve exactly that with my music. I want my music to inspire movement, positivity, and a really good time,” says the performer who has already found himself being requested to support the likes of Janet Jackson, Flo Rida, and Salt ‘N Pepa on tour.

The song is the perfect rnb/dance track that will definitely be played a lot in the clubs and set to be a summer sizzler for Tim. The video clip features his dancing as well which is incredible to see. An all around performer Timomatic is Novastreamusic's hot new artist to watch! Check out the video below!

ALBUM REVIEW : Talk That Talk - Rihanna

Rihanna has become an unstoppable force in pop music in the last few years and after several number ones and albums that boast more album fillers than singles comes the album of her career. Talk That Talk takes everything to the next level and is a strong contender for pop album of the year.

Talk That Talk is in Australian stores Saturday November 19 a mere 6 days away and while previous albums Loud and Rated R were big hits here this album takes everything to the next level. Normally a new album means a new look and new side of the singer. This time around Rihanna hones in on a combination of her Loud and Rated R persona and perfects it to the point of complete surprise.

By doing this Rihanna has created an album that is louder, raunchier and sexier than anything she has done before and the results are an audio orgasm from start to finish. When she promised a solid album from start to finish she not only delivered on that promised but she went several steps further that makes this album not only the best of her career but for 2011. Be gone Born This Way, Fare thee well Femme Fatale and while she couldn't outsell 21 (really at this point who could apart from Michael Jackson) it outworks these albums in every single way.

Enlisting hit producers Dr Luke, Stargate, Bangladesh, Calvin Harris, Hit-Boy and Jay-Z the production list reads like an all you can eat menu for the most delicious meal you have ever eaten. The songs that have been produced are for the most part radio friendly but also take her lyrics and music to a deeper place than they have ever been.

The album opens with the second single "You Da One" slides open to a sexy urban island beat that is reminiscent of the Ri Ri that we are used to but there is a new found strength and confidence in her voice that shines through. As the song progresses a ridiculously amazing dub step style breakdown weaves in an out and this is going to be the summer track for Aussies.

Current number one single "We Found Love" featuring Calvin Harris has been the perfect intro to this album with the extremely sexy beats and thought provoking lyrics show why in the fickle world of pop music Rihanna has earned her place as one of pops biggest contenders. One of our favourite tracks "Where Have You Been" samples Geoff Mack's I've Been Everywhere, but then features a chorus inspired by Faithless with an orgasmic breakdown reminiscent of The Prodigy. It's this kind of blend that echoes throughout the album creating the most together and solid album of Rihanna's career.

The title track features rapper Jay-Z and is a throwback to Rated R and will definitely please her urban fans, this futuristic soldier track is one of the backbones of the album. the too short interlude of Birthday Cake should be converted to a full song for the impending re-release as it is one of the hottest songs Rihanna has ever done, the Bangladesh produced Cockiness stands out as the best song on the album that stitches together vocals, drums and horns is definitely the best song Bangladesh has produced in the past few years.

All of this amazing production would be nothing without lyrics to back it up. The whole album just reeks of sexual energy and you can really feel that Rihanna is moving into a sexually fulfilling era of her life and this album is very reminiscent of Janet Jacksons The Velvet Rope. The clever lyrics of "suck my cockiness, lick my persuasion" to the closing ballad "Farwell" which is definitely the best vocal performance Rihanna has ever delivered on any track in her career.

It's the combination of these elements that make Talk That Talk not only Rihanna's best album of her career to date while ensuring radio longevity and slaying every other pop album released this year. This album truly has something for everyone and proves that as far as bad bitches go Rihanna is still number one and with the amount of attitude and vocal improvement expect to see your other pop divas slayed this summer when Rihanna releases Talk That Talk in just 6 days time.

90's throwback

This month's 90s throwback is Jellyhead by British duo Crush

What Jennifer Lopez should have done....

Jennifer Lopez has had a massive year so far and with a world number 1 smash hit with On The Floor, the follow up singles Im Into You and Papi have failed to chart or make any kind of impact. Combine this with her American Idol judge appearances and divorce it isn't looking too good for the future of her music career.

Before the release of Love many songs were leaking for months before and were rumoured to be part of the album, most of them where produced by The Dream and as you guessed were completely horrendous. The one song that stood out was produced by Rodney Darkchild Jerkins and was titled Hooked On You.

To this day I still strongly believe that this song should have been included on the album and been the second single but alas the record company went in a different direction and the $9.99 reduction of Love on I Tunes explains the rest.

Check out the amazing track below and let us know what you think?

Janet goes home...

After performing to sold out venues the one and only miss Janet Jackson has flown back home to be with her family as the Michael Jackson trial continues.

Dr. Conrad Murray is on trial in Los Angeles. He is accused of being negligent in his care of the superstar, who died in 2009 of an overdose of the anesthetic propofol at age 50.

The prosecution is wrapping up its case this week, and the defense is about to present its case. The Jacksons have been a regular presence at the trial; Janet Jackson was there at the beginning.
"When I planned these shows, the schedule in California was completely different," she said in a Sunday statement to The Associated Press. "After talking with my family last night, I decided we must be together right now. .... This saddens me in so many ways."
The shows for her "Number Ones" tour were scheduled in Melbourne on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday; to make them up, she'll perform one night, on Nov. 3, in Rod Laver Arena. She thanked her fans for their support and understanding.

Jackson also has the support of her promoter.
"It is important that Janet is with her family at this critical point in the hearing. While Janet and our company apologize for any inconvenience for the reschedule of the Melbourne shows, we thank Janet for the great and successful concerts in Perth and Adelaide and eagerly await her return. ... Our thoughts and prayers are with Janet and the entire Jackson family," promoter Paul Dainty said.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Janet at this time and we thank her for taking the time to tour here.

All We Have - Natalie Bassingthwaite

Nat Bass is back! After the amazing success of her solo debut album 1000 Stars in 2009 Nat is back with a fierce new single and a hot new look that is set to burn the charts! ‘All We Have’ is a luscious dance-pop anthem, marking Bassingthwaighte’s long-awaited return to her dance roots. A fresh hook explodes into a chorus that Natalie wallops; amplifying her ability to manoeuvre from lyrical delivery to fierce vocal heights; ‘All We Have’ is a sure-fire hit that will resonate on global dance floors.

Nat says of the track “I feel like I'm in the best place I have ever been and this song represents that. I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with the best in the business to make this everything I’ve ever wanted and more.”

Check out the remix of All We Have below! Welcome back Nat Bass! We missed you!!
